FAQ
What working with us is like.
Clear answers about our process, costs, code ownership, support and how to start a project with GUFORA.
01How we work
What does the project process look like?
We start with a conversation to understand your goals. Then we analyze your processes, define the scope and send you a proposal. Once approved, we build in stages with deliveries you review, and we support the launch at the end.
Do I need to know about technology to work with you?
No. We advise you and support you throughout the entire process. We explain each option in plain language so you can decide with confidence.
How do we communicate during the project?
Through video calls, email and WhatsApp. We agree on regular check-ins, and you can see the project’s progress at every stage.
Do you work with companies outside Costa Rica?
Yes. We serve projects in Costa Rica, Latin America and the United States, in Spanish or English, and schedule meetings around your time zone.
Can you work on a system or site I already have?
Yes. We first review the current state of the system and then propose how to improve it, integrate it with other tools or, if it makes sense, migrate it.
02Costs and timelines
How much does a project cost?
It depends on the scope, complexity and integrations required. After the first conversation we send you a proposal with the scope, stages and investment, with no commitment.
How long does it take?
A simple website can be ready in a few weeks; custom software is delivered in stages over several months. The proposal includes the estimated timeline for each stage.
How are payments handled?
Development is billed as a one-time fee agreed in the proposal. That amount is split into payments tied to delivery stages, so you pay as the work progresses. Ongoing maintenance is optional and agreed separately.
Is the first consultation free?
Yes. The first conversation to understand your project and walk you through the options is free of charge.
Do we sign a contract?
Yes. Before we start, we sign an agreement that sets out the scope, deliverables, timelines, payments and confidentiality. If you hire maintenance, its terms go in a separate contract.
03Ownership and security
Who owns the project’s code?
You do. When the project is complete, the source code and documentation belong to your company.
How do you protect my company’s information?
We follow security best practices in development and infrastructure: user-level access control, encrypted connections and backups. We handle personal data in line with the data protection laws that apply to each project, based on where your company operates and where your users are; in Costa Rica, for example, Law No. 8968. If needed, we sign a non-disclosure agreement before learning the details of your project.
Where will my system or website be hosted?
We host systems and websites on established cloud services such as AWS or Cloudflare, chosen to fit each project. Whenever possible, accounts are set up in your company’s name; we can also work with the provider of your choice.
Who pays for hosting and the domain?
These are recurring provider costs, such as domain registration or the cloud service, and are separate from development. We include an estimate in the proposal and help you set them up; they are usually paid directly to the provider or can be included in your maintenance plan.
What happens to my system if we stop working together?
Your system is still yours. We hand over the code, documentation and access needed so another team can take over if you choose.
04Support and maintenance
Do you offer support after delivery?
Yes. We support the launch and then offer a monthly maintenance plan to fix issues, apply updates and keep your solution secure.
How does the monthly maintenance plan work?
It is set up with a contract and a monthly fee. The scope is defined by what your system needs: for example, support hours, security updates, monitoring, backups and small improvements. We review the plan regularly to keep it aligned with your operation.
Is maintenance mandatory?
No. Maintenance is optional and you can hire it at any time. We recommend it for systems in production, because keeping security and components up to date prevents bigger problems.
What if I need changes or new features later?
Your solution is built to grow. Minor adjustments can be covered by the maintenance plan; larger new features are quoted as a new stage.
Will you teach us how to use the system?
Yes. We include training for your team and the documentation needed for day-to-day use.
